Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Carpentry Estimator to join our team. The Carpentry Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with carpentry projects, including materials, labor, and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry techniques, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams. The Carpentry Estimator will play a pivotal role in ensuring project success by providing accurate cost estimates and supporting the decision-making process.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and blueprints to determine the scope and requirements of carpentry projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to understand project objectives and provide accurate estimates.
- Research and source materials, equipment, and subcontractors required for each project.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, overheads, and profit margins.
- Utilize computer-aided estimating software and other tools to generate accurate estimates.
- Identify and quantify potential risks and uncertainties associated with each project.
- Provide timely and accurate bid submissions to clients.
- Review and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of historical cost data to support future estimating efforts.
- Collaborate with the purchasing department to ensure accurate material pricing and availability.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and changes in construction costs.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; additional certification or degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Carpentry Estimator or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and industry standards.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural plans, specifications, and blueprints.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately estimate labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Proficient in using computer-aided estimating software and other relevant tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with construction regulations, code compliance, and safety standards.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
